European auto major Volkswagen has launched its most awaited luxurious small car model Volkswagen Beetle in Indian market in premium D-segment. The company has launched only one variant of Volkswagen Beetle which will be equipped with the 2.0L, petrol engine with six speed automatic transmission gearbox. The all new Volkswagen Beetle is a cute looking small car that carries unique and stylish exteriors. Volkswagen India has launched Volkswagen Beetle in India to compete with another D-segment luxurious small car Fiat 500 and another awaiting model Fiat Bravo, that might be launched in the Indian market in June 2010 in the same segment. The company officials announced that they will import the car as a CBU (Completely Built Unit) from its Mexican based manufacturing plant.

Volkswagen Beetle is powerful, luxurious and stylish car that offers the thrill of SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) with size similar to Tata Nano. Volkswagen Beetle is available only with petrol engine option with six speed manual transmission gearbox. Volkswagen India has launched only one variant of Volkswagen Beetle which is powered by the 2.0L, 1984cc, petrol engine with six speed automatic transmission gearbox. This 2.0L power-plant produces 115bhp of maximum power with 172Nm of maximum torque. Its powerful engine makes it able to cross the mark of 100kmph in just 11.2 seconds and touch the top speed mark of 180kmph. The active safety features that Volkswagen Beetle includes are ABS with EBD, dual front and side impact airbags, sear belt alarm, and tyre pressure monitoring system.

Volkswagen Beetle is a very stylish and refined hatchback car which includes the German engineering and performance to get exceptional fit and finish. Volkswagen Beetle offers dashing and elegant interiors but its tight cabin space limits its appeal. Its exterior body shape makes its handling more comfortable. Volkswagen Beetle is a front wheel drive car which is built on MK4 generation Volkswagen Golf/Jetta platform.
